Edwin Encarnacion | TOR
(June 18, 2013 9:55 PM EDT)
Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI as the Blue Jays beat the Rockies 8-3 on Tuesday.
The homer was Encarnacion's 19th of the year and he's somewhat quietly driven in 58 runs. The first baseman is hitting .268/.352/.526 and is showing that his career year in 2012 wasn't a fluke.

Clay Buchholz | BOS
(June 18, 2013 8:20 PM EDT)
Red Sox placed RHP Clay Buchholz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 9, with a strained neck.
Buchholz was able to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday, but evidently he's still not feeling well enough to make his start on Saturday. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be out. The Red Sox are expected to call up Allen Webster to start over the weekend.

Chris Perez | CLE
(June 18, 2013 7:55 PM EDT)
Chris Perez (shoulder) allowed three homers and five runs in an inning of work in his second rehab appearance with Double-A Akron.
Perez gave up five hits overall and also hit a batter. The right-hander was supposed to be activated from the disabled list on Friday, but the Indians might re-think that after tonight's showing. Vinnie Pestano owners should hang on to him.

(June 18, 2013 7:01 PM EDT)

He'll remain with Reno through next Tuesday, as the D'Backs want him to appear in back-to-back games before being activated. Heath Bell has been scored upon in each of his last three outings and seems likely to cede the closer job back to Putz.

Michael Morse (quad) sitting out Tuesday
Michael Morse | SEA
(June 18, 2013 6:48 PM EDT)
Michael Morse is not in the Mariners' lineup Tuesday due to his nagging right quad injury.
Morse originally suffered the injury in late May, and he's been unable to totally shake it. The M's have admitted that they would have placed him on the DL earlier had they not been dealing with other injuries, and they're probably wishing they would have gone ahead and done it, anyway. Morse was out testing the quad prior to Tuesday's game and is hoping to be back in the lineup soon.

Oswalt to join Rockies' rotation on Thursday
Roy Oswalt | COL
(June 18, 2013 5:35 PM EDT)
Roy Oswalt is officially scheduled to make his Rockies debut on Thursday against the Nationals.
Oswalt signed a minor league contract with Colorado on May 2 and has registered a stellar 2.16 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio across 33 1/3 innings since reporting to Double-A Tulsa. The veteran right-hander is worth a try in most standard mixed fantasy leagues, though keep in mind that he struggled last year with the Rangers.

Mariners activate Justin Smoak (ribs) from DL
Justin Smoak | SEA
(June 18, 2013 5:27 PM EDT)
Mariners activated 1B Justin Smoak from the 15-day disabled list.
Smoak wound up missing a little under three weeks with a right oblique strain. He did not hit the ball well on his rehab assignment and will return to a .240/.350/.344 batting line. The 26-year-old first baseman remains a poor option in standard mixed fantasy leagues.
