Schiano: 'Everything' suggests Revis will be
Darrelle Revis | TB
(May 20, 2013 12:22 PM EDT)
Bucs coach Greg Schiano says "everything is gearing towards" Darrelle Revis (torn ACL) being ready for Week 1.
Schiano took time out from pressuring Josh Freeman to confirm his new No. 1 cornerback remains on track in his rehab. Revis figures to take things slow in camp, but barring a setback, he'll be ready to roll vs. the Jets in Week 1.

Schiano reiterates competition for Freeman
Josh Freeman | TB
(May 20, 2013 12:17 PM EDT)
Bucs coach Greg Schiano reiterated Monday that Josh Freeman will face competition from third-rounder Mike Glennon.
Schiano and GM Mark Dominik were attempting to claim that they haven't lost faith in Freeman, but Schiano couldn't resist putting Freeman's feet to the fire once more. "I try to tell (the media) the truth that I believe in Josh Freeman and he's our starting quarterback," Schiano said. "But I believe in competition." In the NFL, anything less than an unequivocal endorsement should be construed as a lack of faith. The Bucs are going to make Freeman work for his job, plain and simple.

McGahee a no-show as Broncos open OTAs
Willis McGahee | DEN
(May 20, 2013 12:00 PM EDT)
Willis McGahee was a no-show for the start of Broncos OTAs Monday.
It's notable since McGahee is healthy after last year's torn MCL and broken leg. He was the lone non-injured Broncos veteran to skip out. McGahee's absence from the "voluntary" sessions could suggest he doesn't view himself as long for Denver. McGahee's advancing age and $2.5 million salary make him a strong release candidate after the Broncos drafted Montee Ball. For what it's worth, McGahee's agent insists there's "no message" behind his absence.

Report: Eagles front office wanted Maysonet
Miguel Maysonet | FA
(May 20, 2013 11:53 AM EDT)
A source tells ESPN New York the Eagles' front office wanted to keep recently waived RB Miguel Maysonet, but that coach Chip Kelly said he wasn't a fit for his offense.
Per reporter Rich Cimini, Maysonet's $10,000 signing bonus was the highest for any undrafted running back, so it indeed appears there was a philosophical difference between Kelly and his front office. If that's the case, it's surprising the sides are already not on the same page. Maysonet should get a shot somewhere else.

Tyler Bray off to good start this offseason
Tyler Bray | KC
(May 20, 2013 11:49 AM EDT)
The Kansas City Star believes undrafted QB Tyler Bray has "already displayed enough skills to earn more work."
For whatever reason, Bray is still working behind No. 3 QB Ricky Stanzi, but that shouldn't be the case much longer. Bray is a bit of a project despite his 6-foot-6 frame and cannon arm, but Stanzi has proven time and again he doesn't belong on an NFL roster. We expect Bray to eventually dispatch Stanzi.

(May 20, 2013 11:46 AM EDT)
The Kansas City Star reports retired G/C Ryan Lilja's potential comeback is "on hold" as he rehabs from toe and knee surgeries.
Per reporter Adam Teicher, the Chiefs may also "now feel they have enough capable bodies along their line." Lilja is reportedly "receptive" to a comeback, but the issue may simmer until training camp.

Manuel: Bills offense simpler than Noles'
E.J. Manuel | BUF
(May 20, 2013 11:20 AM EDT)
E.J. Manuel believes the Bills offense has been easier to learn than Florida State's.
Somewhere, coach Doug Marrone is wondering if that's good or bad. "To be honest, it’s a true West Coast type progression offense and that’s really what I wanted coming through the pre-draft process where I could just go in and go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and just check it down or run," Manuel said. "It’s that simple and I love it." Manuel should learn in the preseason that he doesn't have this NFL thing figured out just yet.
