Knowshon Moreno (knee) ready for OTAs
Knowshon Moreno | DEN
(May 20, 2013 11:02 AM EDT)
Knowshon Moreno (knee scope) is expected to participate in this week's OTAs.
Moreno is three months removed from his arthroscopic operation. He is believed to be fighting with Willis McGahee for one roster spot. According to the Denver Post, there "isn't much doubt" the Broncos want second-round pick Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman to be their "1-2 punch" at running back.

Michael McAdoo 'very comfortable'
Michael McAdoo | BAL
(May 20, 2013 10:51 AM EDT)
Ravens DE/OLB Michael McAdoo says he's "very comfortable" coming off of last year's Achilles' surgery.
A 2011 undrafted free agent, McAdoo has spent his entire NFL career on injured reserve. Suspended for his final year at North Carlina, he hasn't played a competitive down in over three years. He knows he's a roster long-shot. "I just feel like I can do my thing now, move around, McAdoo said. "My goal is to open up some eyes and let them know this is what they really brought me in for."

Megatron played through broken fingers in '12
Calvin Johnson | DET
(May 20, 2013 10:43 AM EDT)
Calvin Johnson confirms he played through broken fingers last season, and has been "trying to straighten them out."
There were rumors that Johnson played through as many as three broken fingers, though he hasn't confirmed that number. He will not undergo surgery. Coupled with his knee issues, the disclosure makes Johnson's record-breaking 1,964-yard season all the more mind-boggling. Still four months shy of his 28th birthday, Megatron is smack dab in the middle of his prime. He's without peer at wide receiver.

Jerry Hughes will get looks in multiple spots
Jerry Hughes | BUF
(May 20, 2013 10:38 AM EDT)
BuffaloBills.com expects Jerry Hughes to get looks as both a strong-side linebacker and rush end.
The Bills are going to use Hughes in multiple spots as they attempt to salvage him from "bust" status. Not in line for a starting job, the majority of Hughes' snaps will likely come as a sub-package rusher.

Ed Reed could return 'midway' through camp
Ed Reed | HOU
(May 20, 2013 10:17 AM EDT)
The Houston Chronicle confirms the Texans expect Ed Reed (hip surgery) back for the beginning of training camp or "midway through it."
Owner Bob McNair first let slip that Reed might not be ready for the beginning of camp after coach Gary Kubiak had previously insisted he would. Things have a history of not quite going to plan with Reed and his injuries, so we'd be far from surprised if he misses a sizable chunk of his first Texans camp. Going on 35, there's a chance Reed is damaged goods.

Doctors confident Gronk's arm will heal
Rob Gronkowski | NE
(May 20, 2013 10:09 AM EDT)
ESPN Boston confirms doctors are "confident" the infection in Rob Gronkowski's surgically-repaired arm has subsided.
They won't know for sure until they study samples taken during Gronkowski's Monday operation. If the samples confirm Gronk is infection-free, doctors will replace the metal plate in his arm. If everything goes to plan — a big if at this point — Gronk will then undergo "minor" back surgery in 3-4 weeks. Considering Gronk's recent health history, he should be considered highly questionable for Week 1.

Desmond Bishop says he'll be ready for camp
Desmond Bishop | GB
(May 20, 2013 9:40 AM EDT)
Packers ILB Desmond Bishop (hamstring) says he'll be "110 percent" for training camp, and is aiming to be the Defensive Player of the Year in 2013.
Bishop missed all of 2012 with a torn hamstring. Going on 29, Bishop is one of the Packers' better defenders when healthy, but has never flirted with All-Pro status. In other words, his DPOY talk is just aimless chatter. Bishop was bandied about as a trade candidate during the draft, but is locked into a starting job at inside linebacker.

Saints GM: Will Smith playing outside 'backer
Will Smith | NO
(May 20, 2013 9:30 AM EDT)
Saints GM Mickey Loomis says Will Smith will start off at outside linebacker in OTAs.
Smith is 6-foot-3, 282 pounds. It's a comical attempt to fit Smith into the Saints' new 3-4 defense, and an experiment almost certain to end in failure. Aside from a few snaps at weak-side linebacker as a rookie, Smith has spent his entire career as a base 4-3 end. Due a non-guaranteed $3 million after restructuring his contract, Smith is a candidate for trade or release.

Freeney expecting multiple looks in San Diego
Dwight Freeney | SD
(May 20, 2013 9:19 AM EDT)
New Chargers pass-rusher Dwight Freeney expects to see snaps at both outside linebacker and defensive end.
"They'll run both (the 3-4 and 4-3)," Freeney said of the Chargers, who operate out of a 3-4 base. "They're willing to feature me and free me up to make plays. And they're going to put me in good matchups in the 3-4." Freeney's play slipped as a stand-up outside linebacker in Indianapolis last season, but the Chargers didn't sign him to put him in position to fail. He should get opportunities to put his hand in the dirt.

Jammer would 'love' to re-sign with Bolts
Quentin Jammer | FA
(May 20, 2013 9:07 AM EDT)
Free agent CB Quentin Jammer would "love" to re-sign with the Chargers.
"I’ve had conversations with them," Jammer said. "They said the door wasn’t completely closed. Hopefully, maybe down the road a little bit, the Chargers will offer me something." Jammer went on to say that his "expectation is to be elsewhere," and that he's not considering retirement. Going on 34, Jammer's lone free-agent visit was to the Redskins in late-April.
