Tim Duncan quiet in Spurs Game 1 win
Tim Duncan | SA
(May 19, 2013 6:33 PM EDT)
Tim Duncan was quiet in the Spurs' 103-85 win over the Grizzlies on Sunday, scoring six points with 10 boards, four assists and two blocks in 27 minutes.
His defense was the story and he was putting a lot of energy into successfully defending Zach Randolph. It's going to be tough sledding for Duncan on offense with Memphis ranking first in the NBA in field goal percentage allowed in the paint. Obviously, if the Spurs are going to shoot 14-of-29 from downtown against an outstanding D like Memphis', it really isn't going to matter how Duncan performs on offense. The Spurs will host Game 2 on Tuesday.
Matt Bonner scores 12 points in 17 minutes
Matt Bonner | SA
(May 19, 2013 6:26 PM EDT)
Matt Bonner was sprung into action on Sunday and hit four 3-pointers in 17 minutes, scoring 12 points with two boards and one assist.
Bonner played just 9.7 minutes per game in the series vs. the Warriors, but Gregg Popovich wisely utilized him more in an effort to mess with Memphis' rhythm on both ends. Pop playing the matchups is old hat these days and fantasy owners can tell you all about how he rarely treats his opponents the same.
Danny Green hits three 3-pointers, scores 16
Danny Green | SA
(May 19, 2013 6:21 PM EDT)
Danny Green scored 16 points in a 105-83 win over the Grizzlies on Sunday to go with four boards, three assists and three 3-pointers in 26 minutes.
The Spurs absolutely destroyed the Grizzlies from beyond the arc, making 14-of-29 from that range. Green was eighth in the NBA with his 177 3-pointers during the regular season and he's been a large part of the Spurs' success. Memphis will have to keep a body on him while Tony Parker penetrates the defense, which is no easy task.
Tony Parker scores 20 in Game 1 victory
Tony Parker | SA
(May 19, 2013 6:16 PM EDT)
Tony Parker scored a game-high 20 points in San Antonio's Game 1 win on Sunday, adding one board, nine assists and two steals in 33 minutes.
He shot 9-of-14 from the field in the win, which is nothing new for Parker. During the regular season, he led all guards with his 52.2 percent from the field, but he's been somewhat cool in the playoffs, making 45.2 percent of his shots in the first two rounds. Parker's D on Mike Conley was also solid and the Spurs will look to take a big 2-0 lead on Tuesday.
Kawhi Leonard plays well in Game 1 win
Kawhi Leonard | SA
(May 19, 2013 6:10 PM EDT)
Kawhi Leonard was terrific in Sunday's Game 1 victory over the Grizzlies, scoring 18 points with two boards, one assist, two steals, one block and four 3-pointers in 30 minutes.
He was a terror for Memphis on both ends of the floor and Kawhi's help defense played a big part in limiting Memphis' chances for easy buckets. Leonard has been great all postseason, shooting 55.6 percent from the field even before his 7-of-10 gem today. The Grizzlies will have to focus more on preventing Leonard from getting open looks on Tuesday.
Marc Gasol scores 15 points in losing effort
Marc Gasol | MEM
(May 19, 2013 6:06 PM EDT)
Marc Gasol shot 7-of-16 from the field for 15 points with seven boards, two assists, one steal and two blocks in 34 minutes against the Spurs on Sunday.
The Grizzlies weren't themselves today and they had just five second-chance points and only 32 points in the paint. They did win the rebounding battle, but they didn't control the tempo to their usually slower speed. Gasol and the Grizzlies will look to even the series on Tuesday.
Quincy Pondexter scores team-high 17 points
Quincy Pondexter | MEM
(May 19, 2013 6:00 PM EDT)
Quincy Pondexter scored a team-high 17 points with one board and five 3-pointers in 29 minutes vs. the Spurs on Sunday.
He got hot in the third quarter and made the game close, but San Antonio responded with a 10-2 run to put the game out of reach. Pondexter had been fairly quiet in the playoffs with just 6.5 points per game, which is just a shade above his regular-season average of 6.4. He hit 5-of-9 from beyond the arc and chances are is that this will be his best game of the playoffs.
Randolph scores two in Game 1 in loss
Zach Randolph | MEM
(May 19, 2013 5:57 PM EDT)
Zach Randolph scored two points on 1-of-8 shooting to go with seven boards, one block and one turnover in 28 minutes during Game 1's loss to the Spurs.
He looked more like Anthony Randolph than Zach Randolph. Z-Bo couldn't buy a bucket today and he took five attempts from inside the paint. He did get a few second chances with three offensive boards, but not even his putbacks could fall. He'll look to turn it around in Game 2 on Tuesday.
Dwyane Wade goes through practice on Sunday
Dwyane Wade | MIA
(May 19, 2013 2:44 PM EDT)
Dwyane Wade went through a "training-camp-type practice" on Sunday and is good to go for Game 1 on Tuesday.
He's been dealing with his knee injury for the past two months of the season and he's shown signs of wearing down in these playoffs. Wade has said on multiple occasions that rest isn't going to help his knee, so he'll have to just deal with this chronic issue. He will be an important piece of Miami's plan with Paul George guarding LeBron James.

Chris Wilcox open to re-signing w/ Celtics
Chris Wilcox | BOS
(May 19, 2013 11:45 AM EDT)
Chris Wilcox said he'd like to re-sign with the Celtics this summer, but acknowledged that his future is uncertain.
"I had to come into training camp [last season] with really no workouts, just come in and start playing," said Wilcox, who returned from heart surgery. "This summer I can dedicate to working out and just strengthening my overall game." He played 14 minutes per game for Boston in 2012-13, and we doubt his role will expand regardless of which team he signs with.
