The homer, Jones' 15th on the year, came off Justin Verlander, one of two homers Verlander served up on the night. The outfielder has now driven in 51 runs and is hitting .301/.325/.520 in what should be another All-Star season.

Wheeler sharp over six in major league debut
Zack Wheeler | NYM
(June 18, 2013 10:43 PM EDT)
Zack Wheeler tossed six scoreless innings Tuesday against the Braves to earn a win in his MLB debut.
Wheeler looked like he was battling some nerves early on and he got into some tight spots with his five total walks, but it was a special night overall for the 23-year-old right-hander. He struck out seven batters and yielded just four hits, and will try for a similar brand of dominance in his second major league start next Tuesday against the White Sox. Wheeler is a must-own in all standard fantasy leagues.
Britton picks up first win as O's top Tigers
Zach Britton | BAL
(June 18, 2013 10:40 PM EDT)
Zach Britton allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings as the Orioles beat the Tigers on Tuesday.
The win was Britton's first as he was making his first start since April 29. The left-hander allowed only a solo homer to Matt Tuiasosopo in scattering five hits and three walks. Despite the good start, Britton may find himself back in Triple-A Norfolk once Jason Hammel is healthy enough to start.
Recker homers to lead Mets past the Braves
Anthony Recker | NYM
(June 18, 2013 10:40 PM EDT)
Anthony Recker hit his second home run of the season Tuesday in the Mets' defeat of the Braves.
The two-run shot in the top of the seventh inning broke a 0-0 tie and put Zack Wheeler in line for his first major league win. Recker doesn't play much behind John Buck and will likely be sent to Triple-A Las Vegas when prospect Travis d'Arnaud is ready to contribute.
Maholm allows two runs but Braves fall to NYM
Paul Maholm | ATL
(June 18, 2013 10:38 PM EDT)
Paul Maholm allowed just two runs over seven innings but the Braves fell to the Mets on Tuesday.
Maholm was simply out-dueled by Mets right-hander Zack Wheeler, who was making his major league debut. The veteran lefty struck out seven New York batters and did not issue a walk, but he fell to 7-6. Maholm will get the Brewers in Milwaukee next time out.
Verlander not sharp as Tigers lose to Orioles
Justin Verlander | DET
(June 18, 2013 10:36 PM EDT)
Justin Verlander allowed five runs in five innings to take the loss against the Orioles on Tuesday.
Verlander didn't have his best night, as the Orioles got to him for two home runs among his seven hits allowed. He also walked four batters on the night. He'll likely be better his next time out, Sunday against the Red Sox.
Pestano earns 2nd save, Tribe tops Royals 4-3
Vinnie Pestano | CLE
(June 18, 2013 10:26 PM EDT)
Vinnie Pestano got through a tumultuous ninth inning to pick up his second save of the season on Tuesday as the Indians beat the Royals 4-3.
Pestano managed the rare feat of allowing three hits and a walk while throwing a scoreless inning, as the Royals' baserunning miscues aided the cause. With Chris Perez working his way back Pestano's days closing games could be numbered, but Perez is no sure thing to be effective upon returning. The situation is worth monitoring in the days following Perez's activation.

(June 18, 2013 10:22 PM EDT)
Marco Estrada (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Low-A Wisconsin on Thursday.
That's assuming he's cleared by team physician William Raasch Wednesday following a successful 45-pitch bullpen session Tuesday. Estrada is expected to need just one rehab outing, putting him in line to rejoin the rotation next week.

Aviles goes 2-for-4 as Indians beat Royals
Mike Aviles | CLE
(June 18, 2013 10:21 PM EDT)
Mike Aviles went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI as the Indians beat the Royals on Tuesday.
Aviles was in the middle of the Indians' three-run eighth inning, eventually scoring the winning run on a Michael Brantley sacrifice fly. The utility infielder has gotten regular playing time with Asdrubal Cabrera sidelined, but he should return to a reserve role when Cabrera returns. He's hitting .277 on the year.
Herrera blows up for fifth loss against Tribe
Kelvin Herrera | KC
(June 18, 2013 10:15 PM EDT)
Kelvin Herrera took the loss on Tuesday, allowing three runs in just 1/3 of an inning against the Indians.
Herrera hadn't allowed a run since being recalled on June 5 but struggled mightily on Tuesday, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk. There was a point early in the season where Herrera looked like he might wrestle the closing job away from a struggling Greg Holland, but with Holland straightened out and Herrera's troubles that seems like a remote possibility anytime in 2013.
