Penn State transfer Anthony Fera was expected to significantly upgrade Texas’ kicking game. While that’s still very possible, any impact Fera might have has been put on hold.
Whispers that Fera was injured came out early Friday morning by way of Dan Watkins of NBC 5 in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Other UT publications began picking up on Fera’s injury before it was announced by the school that the kicker had a groin injury that will keep him out indefinitely.
“Anthony Fera came into preseason camp with a groin strain that he recently aggravated,” a UT release stated.
Fera averaged over 40 yards per punt and made 14-of-17 field goals last year for the Nittany Lions. He was also a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award.
