Notre Dame: Few programs utilize their TEs better than ND, which might have the program’s best player ever at that position in Eifert (44 catches for 624 yards and four TDs). And that’s saying something from a program that produced the likes WR TJ Jones was wildly effective this season. Thirty-four of his 43 catches resulted in either a first down or TD. Overall, the group lacks sizzle, especially after last season’s graduation of Michael Floyd. But you can’t argue with the results.
Alabama: The Tide uncovered a game-breaker in Cooper, a freshman who produced four 100-yard games. Cooper has 53 catches for 895 yards and nine TDs, making him a good bet to soar past the Alabama freshman receiving records of Julio Jones (58 catches, 924 yards). Cooper is complemented by junior Kevin Norwood (26 catches) and sophomore Christion Jones (25). Meanwhile, senior TE Michael Williams (21 catches) is a reliable, but underutilized target.
