Fox News not pleased with St. Paul Saints’ Atheist Night, calls for ‘All good Christians to pray for rain’

As you likely know, the St. Paul Saints, an Independent Association baseball team, will pay tribute to atheists everywhere on Aug. 10 with their Night of Unbelievable Fun. That’s when they’ll remove the S from their name and become the ‘Mr. Paul Aints’ for one game. Predictably, this has Fox News in a panty-bunching fury. The Fox and Friends hosting trio took on the “controversy” this morning, with right-wing attack poodle Eric Bolling taking the lead.

For those who don’t know, Bolling (far right in photo, natch) is the guy who once accused Democratic U.S. Representative Maxine Waters of being on crack, and was embarrassingly outwitted by the Muppets. This morning, Bolling gave a harumphing diatribe on the subject of the Saints’ Atheists Night. Bolling:

“And you ain’t got to go to that ball park and you ain’t gotta, you know what you can do, you can pray for rain that day which all of us good Christians will be praying for rain. Come on, really, baseball, American, all American, apple pie STAY OUT OF THE BALLPARK. Don’t bring the religion into the ballpark, let these people have a good time…”

That’s a fairly exact transcript of what he said, but if you think that unfairly paints him as a ranting lunatic, well, see the video and judge for yourself.
